I'm going with purple-and-blue in my bedroom and have had the hardest time deciding on a comforter/duvet cover for my bed. While I am a single woman, I didn't want a comforter that looked too girly. I thought this one looked great in the picture so I ordered it. From a distance, it looks like it does in the picture. Up close, the colored stripes are made up of what appear to be color dots/pixels, so it is definitely not as nice-looking up close.

A couple of other remarks: I'm only using the comforter and pillowcases, not the mattress cover. At some point I did briefly lay down the mattress cover for something, the fabric got damp, and the colors bled through onto the mattress it was on. I had not washed the mattress cover prior to this, so that may have been the reason for the color bleeding. Also, even though I have a queen-sized bed, I bought the king-sized duvet cover because I have a Serta mattress with a pillow top, which makes the mattress an extra 4 or so inches taller than a regular one. This has worked well for me.
